James was able to sort out a strange issue with my door frame, and the final repair turned out fine. That said, communication was a little slow, and I had to explain the problem more than once before things really got moving. Overall, I’m happy it got fixed, but the process wasn’t as smooth as I expected. Has anyone else had to chase a bit to get things clarified?

The aftercare was slow, to be honest. My sister and I were waiting for someone to get back to us properly, but it felt like we kept having to chase for a clear response...

James ended up being late and there wasn’t really much of a heads up about it. I had to shuffle my day around, which was frustrating. The actual work was one thing, but the timing and communication around it just weren’t great, especially with that happening the way it did.

I had kind of mixed feelings about carpenterjames.com. Some of the info seemed alright, but other parts didn’t exactly scream “trust me,” which is always comforting, right? I would’ve liked clearer details and a bit more proof before feeling fully confident. It’s not the worst site I’ve come across, but I’d still be a little cautious.

Got the quote first. Seemed fair enough. Then the final bill came through and yeah, same price. No random add-ons, no surprise fees, none of that awkward stuff. Just straightforward, which I really appreciated.

Compared with a few other tradespeople I’ve tried to book, there was no chasing, no vague replies, and no last-minute excuses, which was a nice change. The work looks good as well, so I’d happily use him again.

James was really easy to deal with. He explained everything in a way I could actually understand, replied to my texts quickly, and kept me updated on what was happening next. that shouldn’t feel rare, but it kind of does.

The wood feels really sturdy and good quality overall. There was one small rough spot on the edge, but I gave it a quick pass with some sandpaper and felt proud of myself for sorting it out so easily. Other than that, I’m happy with it.

James came round to put up some shelves and fix a small bit on a door frame. He was really respectful of the place, put sheets down as soon as he came in, and generally treated the house properly, which I always notice and appreciate.
He tidied up most of the dust afterwards and didn’t leave his tools scattered everywhere. The only thing that stopped it being 5 stars was that he turned up later than planned. If that happened again I’d probably have to look elsewhere, but this time the work was good and he was easy to have around.

The install was decent overall. Nothing terrible, but it felt a little uneven in spots. It got done, just not as smoothly as I was hoping.
